Driffield Water Forlorns Improvement Project
The East Yorkshire Chalk Rivers Trust is working alongside East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Driffield Town Council, The Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and Driffield Partnership on a conservation project to improve and enhance the Driffield Water Forlorns. Water Forlorns runs through Driffield Town Centre and forms part of the River Hull Catchment.
In spring of 2009 The East Yorkshire Chalk Rivers Trust were successful in a bid to the Environment Agency for £20,000 for improvements to the Water Forlorns. The bid was based on a report produced by the Wild Trout Trust in 2007 following a site visit with East Yorkshire Chalk Rivers Trust.
The improvement plans covers three open sections between Northend Park and Riverhead for a distance of 685 metres, approximately 60% of the beck length. The remaining sections are mostly inaccessible.
For more information on this project please contact the Driffield Partnership office.

Market Walk, Driffield - make over is complete
Market Walk has undergone a make over with new signage, render, painting and a good clean. The lane which links the town centre with Cross Hill car park and the library was highlighted as an area of poor environmental quality in the Great Driffield-Great Future consultation last year. Cross Hill car park is often used by visitors to the town and the project aims to give visitors a welcoming first impression of the town centre.
The project was led by the Environment, Urban Design and Opens Space Group, a joint working group with Driffield Town Council's Environment Group, and funded by contributions from East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Driffield Town Council and John Dossor, a local business man.
